Daemon's lips twitched into a small, distant smile and he shook her hand, automatically filing away the names. "Daemon Sadi. I take it you're in the Air house as well, then. You must be the best friend he mentioned."

Autumn smiled again. "That's me. And I guess I should consider myself lucky that he didn't call me his sister because lately he's been acting more like an older brother than a best friend." "Hey, it's not a bad thing that I've been trying to get you to be social again instead of moping around," Logan commented. "I'm not moping," Autumn clarified, frowning at Logan. "I'm cleaning. There's a difference."

Daemon observed this exchange with what appeared to be a bored sort of interest, the half-attention of someone with nothing better to do. During a gap in the conversation he asked, "Which way to room 10? I want to make sure all my luggage arrived and hasn't been tampered with."

"Oh, sorry. Take the stairs on the right and it should be about halfway up," Autumn said. "And your luggage should be fine. I haven't heard of anyone's being tampered with. But, then again, there's a first time for everything." Her expression suddenly got sad and Logan knew exactly what she was thinking. Logan sighed as she went and sat on one of the couches, her knees brought up to her chest and her arms wrapped around her legs. He turned to Daemon. "Sorry about her," he said quietly even though he knew she wasn't listening. "I probably should have warned you about the mood swings, but I thought she was getting better. Her boyfriend dumped her for another guy and she's taken it pretty hard."

Seeming to be somewhat amused by this information, Daemon just said with a wry smile, "Huh. Life's a bitch, ain't it?" With that he turned and went up the stairs to his room. A single room, as arranged - no pesky roommates to deal with. His luggage was intact. He checked outside the window, and noted that the walls were in pretty good climbing condition. He changed into a fresh shirt that wavered between dress and casual. It had been a long enough trip for that, but not long enough to require immediate bathing. He then went back down the stairs into the common room and took a seat by the fire, continuing his silent observation.

Logan went and sat by Autumn, who was staring at nothing, and put his arm around her as he watched Daemon. There was actually something off about him. Most of the new students were asking questions constantly rather than staying quiet and reserved. Logan figured it would be best to get all the information he could. "So, how'd you end up here?" he asked Daemon.

Steepling his fingers under his chin, Daemon spoke smoothly and casually as he recited his story for his two audience members. "I was tested for magecraft recently by one of the professors here. Apparently if I could just tap into some inner reservoir of power, I would be able to move objects with my mind. I was home-schooled in basic magic, but my father and I decided it would be beneficial for me to come study here, where I may gain a new skill. A distant cousin of mine is a student here as well, so my father was familiar with the school. Perhaps you know her? Verginia Holt?"

Autumn perked up and actually listened to what was being said when she heard 'move objects with my mind.' She was still blocking out thoughts to avoid anything that might lead her back into a cleaning frenzy/catatonic state, but she was interested and wanted to know more about Daemon. Until he got to the end, that is. Autumn and Logan let out silmultaneous sound sof disgust at the mention of Verginia. "Sorry, I don't care if she is related to you, I still hate her guts," Autumn said. "In other words, yes, we do know her, unfortunately," Logan said.

Daemon gave a small, amused smile and said, "Really? I wouldn't know - I've never actually met her. It's a very distant relation, if that is any reassurance."

Autumn scoffed. "Good, because if you were anything like her, I would probably be resisting the urge to kill you," se said. "Or at least ignore you forever like I've been doing with her."

Daemon looked immensely amused and said, "Indeed. How's that working out for you?"
[Can you tell my muse is exhausted? Lol, I had nooo sleep last night..]

((Yeah.... maybe you should have some sugar. Even though I know what a bad idea that is...))
"Considering the fact that I share a power with her, fairly well," Autumn said. "She's basically been shunned by our group of friends since no one likes her. Except Layali, but she likes everyone, so that doesn't really count. Plus, she tends to randomly space out anyway so you could probably explode a bomb next to her and she wouldn't notice."

---New Scene---- ((A few days later))
Autumn lay in bed, clutching her pillow, after having cried herself to sleep, yet again. She blocked out everything during the day to show her friends that she was trying to let it go. But in order to get to sleep at night she had to stop blocking and everything came back to her at once. She could hear Chaosti's thoughts, she could hear Edward's, she could hear the worry from her friends. It was the perfect formula for a nightly breakdown. That seemed to continually be followed by a nightmare that left her even more exhausted, emotionally, than when she went to sleep. ((Yeah, that doens't really give you much to work off of, sorry...))

Physically, Daemon was asleep in his dorm room. His mind, however, was elsewhere. He wandered, moving through mist from dream to dream, walking through the sleeping minds of students and teachers. He couldn't seem to find anything of interest tonight. Just your garden variety falling dreams, sex dreams, and naked-in-class dreams. Boring.

Autumn's arms tightened around her pillow as her nightly dream started once again. She was standing in the middle of a long hallway, but she couldn't move. All her senses were working, but her muscles did not respond to her. Her eyes were focused one the scene at the end of the long hallway. Chaosti and Edward stood together, their hands entwined and their expressions holding nothing but love. A voice sounded in her head, "It was never you. He never loved you. You were the cover..." She felt a tear slide down her cheek in the dream. In reality, her breathing had increased and she was tossing and turning in her bed.

Daemon was beginning to lose all hope of finding something to amuse him tonight when he caught a flash of a familiar face through the fog. He walked in the direction of this flash, and stepped into Autumn's dream. His dream self was dressed as he usually was on a day-to-day basis. Tailored shirt and pants bordering between formal and casually rumpled. On a whim he was barefoot and wore a tie loosely around his neck. He came to stand next to her, tilted his head slightly as he looked at the two men at the end of the hall, and asked, "So which of them is the guy who screwed you over?"

Autumn heard someone next to her and found that she could move around. She turned her head to find Daemon looking at Chaosti and Edward. She sighed and shook her head. "Neither of them," she said quietly. "They did nothing wrong. It was my fault... I can't blame them." She sounded like she was trying to convince herself.

Daemon shrugged. He didn't really know the situation aside from Logan's brief comment to him, so he couldn't say either way. "Which one's the ex, I mean. Just so I've got the situation straight." He was bored. May as well dig up some more information. It was better than another fucking falling dream.

"Chaosti's the one on the left," Autumn said. She looked over to Daemon to avoid seeing the others. "But I mean what I said about it not being his fault. It's not anyone's fault if they realize that they are a different sexual orientation."
((Again, sorry for the delay... my parents decided it was a perfect time for a lecture on procrastination, which subsequently reminded me of the fact that I have a ton of stuff I've been putting off which instantly piled into a mountain and I broke down crying. So, yeah... Sorry about that.))

Again Daemon shrugged. "I suppose not. So what's got you obsessing about this, then?"
[Ah, it's fine. I was roped into helping put the spare mattress in my room anyway. My sister will be sharing my room for a week. Which is perfectly fine with me, so long as it's just a week or so.]
