[Lol, yeah.. Oh well, I have some inspiration for a starter this time.]
-----TWO WEEKS LATER-----
Chaosti had tossed and turned for an hour before finally deciding around one AM that he needed to get out. He threw a casual button-up shirt and some jeans on over his boxers, then slipped out the door of his room, not bothering with shoes. He went to the window at the end of the hall and tried the latch, swearing under his breath when he found it to be locked. He went back in his room for his wand, and began working at spelling the locks undone, trying to make as little noise as possible.

((Well, that's good, 'cause I didn't.))
Edward was reading in the Common Room and heard something happening up the hall toward the dormitories. No one else is ever up at this time of the night, he thought. He put his book down and went to see what it was that he heard. When he got near the window, he saw the undeniable form of Chaosti. He would know him anywhere. "Sneaking out, are we?" Edward whispered in a mocking tone. "Are you aware it's after hours? You could get a detention for this."

Just as the lock had clicked open, a voice that Chaosti had come to know well reached his ears. Even though he knew who it was, he still spun in startlement, an instinctive reaction. Grinning sheepishly he whispered back, "Guilty as charged. I couldn't sleep - my room was too stifling. Why are you still up?"

Edward shrugged. "I don't usually go to sleep until after two. I was reading down in the Common Room," he said. He smiled back at Chaosti. "Going out for a midnight flight? Be careful not to kill any small animals while you're out there and you practice with fire. Unless they did something to you first, then go right ahead."

Chaosti pretended to be shocked. "I'm appalled! I would never!" He paused for a moment, then said, "Well, there was this one time when I was still getting used to my full dragon form.. There was a head-on collision with a bird in mid-air that nearly made me crash into a tree.." He shifted his weight back and forth, clearly eager to be out of such a confined space. With a grin, he asked, "Want to come with me?"

Edward laughed as quietly as he could at the bird comment. Then he mentally scolded himself for talking so much and keeping Chaosti inside when he saw him start to shift his weight. He smiled when Chaosti asked him to join him and eagerly agreed. He's been wanting to see what Chaosti looked like as a dragon, or even part way shifted, and hoped this would be his chance. Maybe he'll take off his shirt again... Or maybe more... He once again pulled out the mantra of "Grandma, cheerleaders, peas..." to keep his excitement from showing.

Chaosti's grin turned wicked as he opened the large dormer window and said, "I hope you're not afraid of heights. We're taking a shortcut." He climbed out of the window with the ease of familiarity, standing on the ledge outside of it. It was a wide ledge, stretching about two feet out, and Chaosti wondered if it had been built with this use in mind. He held his hand in through the window and out to Edward, silently offering to help him through the window.

Edward looked out the window to determine the distance to the ground. Seeing that it wasn't too high, he eagerly took hold of Chaosti's hand and stepped onto the ledge as well. "Jeez, you must do this a lot," he commented. "You seem like a pro at this shortcut."

"I've been doing it for two years," Chaosti said, pondering how to accommodate a passenger from up here. He looked down at himself and snorted, saying, "I don't know why I bothered with putting a shirt on. I just have to take it off again if I don't want my wings to ruin it." He unbuttoned his shirt deftly, reaching around Edward to toss it back in the window, not really caring where it landed. He'd get it later. This done, he turned on the ledge so that his back was facing outwards and his hands rested on the wall. "There's no room here for a full shift, but I can go partway and still carry someone," he explained before closing his eyes to concentrate. A moment later, dark, membranous wings grew out of his back and Chaosti sighed in relief. Some of his anxious energy was dispelled in letting his wings out, like his skin had been too tight with them locked inside. He stretched his wings out to their full span, then folded them close along his back so he could maneuver along the ledge. When he opened his eyes, they had gone from his normal light green to a darker, almost metallic green, with slitted reptilian pupils. He moved so his toes curled over the edge, then motioned Edward over behind him. "Put your arms around my waist," he instructed.

Edward was watching in awe, not moving, from the point Chaosti removed his shirt until his instructed him to move. His eyes roamed over Chaosti's exposed torso and admired his wings as they became visible. He noticed that Chaosti was a lot less tense once his wings were out. Edward reacted instantly to being told to move. He caustiously made his way behind Chaosti and slowly slid his hands around the bare skin of Chaosti's waist. He let out a tiny whimper at finally being able to touch him, even in this innocent way, but he hoped that he hadn't heard. That would be slightly embarrassing. He clasped his hands together and locked his arms around Chaosti's waist. "Okay, ready," he said, his voice shaking slightly.

The muscles of his abs contracted involuntarily at Edward's touch and Chaosti drew in a sharp breath. He bit his lip and told himself that the warmth that spread through his body at feeling Edward pressed against his back was just from remembering times he'd flown with Autumn like this. Strange, how different it was though. It was then that Chaosti realized he'd only ever flown with the girls before, and never any of the guys. Whereas the women were all softness, men were made up of hard planes and angles. It wasn't necessarily uncomfortable, though - there was an odd sort of softness to this too - it was just more velvet than plush. Chaosti shoved these confusing thoughts aside and focused on the task at hand. "Don't worry," he said, misinterpreting the squeak he'd heard from Edward. "I won't let you fall. Better hold on tight, spider monkey." [You knew I had to put it in there.] And with that, he jumped. He let them free fall just a moment before he snapped open his wings, catching an updraft that soon had them soaring away from the school's building.

Edward started to laugh at the spider monkey comment, but it turned into a gasp when Chaosti jumped. His arms instantly gripped tighter as they soared over the grounds. When he was satisfied with his dragon's-eye-view of the castle and the grounds, he shifted slightly to see Chaosti's reaction to flying. Being a shifter, it was probably nice to him, though not really anything out of the ordinary. He can't possibly find as much joy in this as he does his art.. Edward's mind was racing, trying to think of anything but the feel of Chaosti under him.

Chaosti let out a joyful whoop at the sensation of flying, not really caring if anyone in the castle heard. They were far enough away from the castle now and edging over the forest that from this distance it might just sound like an owl. He performed a couple of aerial spins sheerly for the thrill of it, then dropped their height so they skimmed just above the treetops. "What do you think?" He asked over his shoulder, yelling to be heard over the rush of air past their ears.

Edward saw the joy in Chaosti's eyes and realized that he really did enjoy this as much as his art, maybe more. He smiled when Chaosti looked back at him. "It's wonderful," he said, getting close to his ear so that he didn't have to yell quite as loudly. "A lot better than I thought it would be. And I had high hopes."

Chaosti flashed a grin over his shoulder and asked, "You wanted to see the forest, right? There's a clearing over there-" he pointed "-where we can touch down. That's where the lake is." He banked to the left and headed in the direction of the clearing. Once above it, he descended downward in easy spirals, not wanting too jarring of a landing for Edward's first ride. When they were close enough to the ground, Chaosti touched down running from the momentum, then slowed to a walk and finally came to a halt. He was breathing a little harder than usual and his skin wore a thin sheen of sweat, but he didn't appear winded.

Edward nodded so that Chaosti would feel it and he wouldn't need to verbally answer. He was grinning widely by the time they touched down. "That was great," he said as he reluctantly pulled his arms away from Chaosti's body, his fingers skimming over the exposed skin. "It's... exhilirating to be up there like that." He gave Chaosti a warmer smile as he went to stand in front of him. "Thank you."

A shiver ran down Chaosti's spine at the feel of Edward's fingers trailing along his skin. "Yes.. exhilarating," he said, trying to shove aside the feeling in his head as though he were spinning. When he met Edward's magnetic gaze, he had to swallow hard. Out here the only illumination was the moon, which was surprisingly bright in the clearing. It bleached everything else of color, but seemed to add a certain fascinating luminosity to the man in front of him. His skin looked almost silvery, and so milky smooth. Chaosti was suddenly gripped by the desire to reach out and discover if Edward's skin felt as smooth as it looked, to see if the moonlight affected it the same everywhere-- At that sudden vivid mental image heat pooled where it shouldn't have, because not only was this not Autumn, but it was a man as well. Chaosti was appalled to discover that he'd started to reach out to Edward, and jerked his hand back down to his side. His face flushed, and he tried to step back, but he seemed frozen in place - his legs wouldn't obey him. "You're welcome," he breathed, trying to pretend like nothing had happened. It was all he could do.

Edward couldn't think of anything to say. He watched the emotions flicker across Chaosti's face and tried to pick them out. Confusion... Desire? But he couldn't know for sure because quickly ended with embarrassment and disbelief. Edward felt an overwhelming pull to show Chaosti how he felt. But he's in a relationship that he likes. I can't ruin that.... Then again, he seems to be enjoying the subtle flirting.... He probably thinks of it as male bonding... You'll never know if you don't try... Edward continued his internal battle all while looking at Chaosti, the moonlight reflecting off his chest.
((Yeah, I'm gonna end it there. I'm mean. This way we can draw it out longer.))
