Edward didn't look as concerned as the rest of them, but he didn't know her as well. He only knew that Chaosti still cared for her in some way. Jasper was trying not to invade her personal space and stayed quiet. "It's my brother," Autumn said in a stunned whisper. "He's in trouble. I need to find him." She started to get up, but Logan kept her in place. "It has to be a trick, Autumn," he said. "You don't even know who sent this!"

"What does the letter say?" Chaosti asked, ready to analyze the letter word for word.

Autumn handed over the letter, having it basically memorized already, and tried to come up with a plan. The letter read:
Autumn,
Your brother is in grave danger. Your parents have decided that they feel the same about him as they did about you. It's in your hands whether he lives or not. Your parents are going to dispose of him, rather than do what they did to you.
((Vague is good.... Vague is very good....))

Chaosti read the letter quickly and frowned, then passed it to the others to read. Layali sucked in her breath sharply, then said, "What do we do?"

Autumn scoffed. "You guys aren't doing anything," she said. "I am going to rescue him." "And if it's a trap?" Logan said firmly. "You can't go alone. You need someone with you." "No! No one else needs to come. This is my family. I need to do this alone." "I thought we were family, Autumn," Logan said, his tone growing sad. She looked at him and sighed, wrapping her arms around him and burying her face in his chest. "We are, silly," she said. "But not by blood. You know about your real family. I need to deal with mine." Jasper decided to speak up then. "At least... at least let someone go with you."

Layali was silent, considering. She mentally put herself in Autumn's shoes, and found herself agreeing. If she had to go back to face her family, she would want to do it alone. Finally she said quietly, "Give us a time limit, and the address of where you're going. If you're not back by the designated time, we'll come after you."

Logan's head snapped over to Layali. "What are you talking about? How can you just let her go?" His arms tightened around Autumn. Jasper compared Layali and Autumn's thoughts before sighing. He let Logan see some of what Autumn was thinking and just how determined she was, even though she wasn't saying anything. Logan let everything sink in before sighing. He removed his arms from around her and backed away from her slightly. "Go," he said quietly. She looked at him, confused. "What?" "I said go!" he repeated, much louder. He got up at walked over to Layali. "You're going to go anyway, I may as well not try to stop you."

Layali took Logan's hand, lacing their fingers together, and said softly, "She needs to do this alone. She needs to know that she can do this alone, that she can stand without us holding her up. I would want the same were it me." Chaosti didn't look any happier about letting Autumn go off into danger on her own, but he stayed silent.

Logan sighed again. "I know," he said, giving Layali's hand a small squeeze. "Sometimes I just wish it were 1901 so you both wouldn't be tempted to go out and risk your lives." Autumn smiled softly and went over to kiss his cheek. "Thank you," she whispered. Then she turned to everyone else. "Three days should be enough," she said. "Knowing my parents and their lack of creativity, they probably took him to the same place they tried to get rid of me. Logan knows where it is if it comes to that." Then she turned to leave.

Just outside of the Rec Room door, Daemon leaned against the wall, arms crossed and looking contemplative. When he saw Autumn he asked simply, "Need any supplies?"

Autumn didn't look surprised at all to see him standing in the hall. She had sensed him out there. "Nope," she said, popping the 'p.' "I'm not going to do anything that I can't do with my own powers. It'll be easier that way." It came out harsher than she intended and she grimaced when she noticed this. She stopped walking, taking a breath, and sighed. "Thank you though," she said, her tone much softer.

Daemon nodded and then said with a wry smile, "I would tell you that I know people who would be willing to take the kid in and protect him, but I doubt you would be enthused about them."

Autumn shook her head. "No, he'll be coming back with me if he wants to," she said. "Or I'd see if Logan's parents would be willing to take him. Besides, I don't want him growing up with a vindictive hate of my parents like I did. He's old enough to know that they can be nice, but also see beneath that and he should know that there are good people in the world." She wasn't just talking about her brother and she hoped he caught on to that.

"And he should have a chance to get to know his big sister, so that he can have someone good to look up to and teach him all of this," Daemon said with a faint smile.

Autumn smiled back softly. She walked over to him and cautiously wrapped her arms around his neck. "Thank you," she whispered.

Daemon hesitated, startled, then cautiously wrapped his arms around her waist. A little gruffly, awkwardly, he said, "Watch your back, alright?"

Autumn chuckled quietly, not wanting to ruin the moment. "I'll be fine," she said. "I've got three days to get back before the brute squad come out in full force to drag my ass back here."

Daemon frowned and said, "Three days.. That seems a bit long to me. Three days is the amount of time needed to flawlessly and completely dispose of a body and all accompanying evidence. Three days is plenty of time to leisurely torture and kill someone. Three days is risky. They could have you and be long gone by the time the cavalry rides in."

"I'm not going to die," Autumn said a bit forcefully. "I can keep them from even landing a punch on me. Every injury I come back with will be self-inflicted, albeit accidentally. Stop thinking like an assassin and show a little faith in me."

Daemon sighed and said, "Alright, just.. Alright." After a long moment, he said, "At least tell me where you'll be. Somehow I doubt Logan would be very enthused about sharing that information with me."
