[Teehee!]
Chaosti soon appeared, walking down a little cobblestone path that meandered through the gardens toward their meeting area. He carried a messenger bag presumably filled with his art supplies, and wore a similar outfit to yesterday's. The only differences were that his button-up shirt was white and he wore sunglasses against the sun's glare on the bleach-white stones he walked on. He grinned and gave a jaunty little wave when he saw Edward. When he arrived next to him at the little corner of the gardens he said, "You're here already! Great! I hope I didn't keep you waiting long."

((You've been waiting to pawn something off on me, haven't you? Don't lie! You totally have!!))
Edward smiled brightly when he saw Chaosti coming and waved back. He noted that the sunglasses were definitely a good look on him and the messenger bag was a little bit of a turn on. "No, I just got here," he said. "I literally just sat down. So, where exactly do you want me? Just tell me where to go." Too bad I know he won't say into his arms... That's a little too much to hope for.

[Heh, I might have.. Just as soon as my inspiration for starter posts ran out, I lay in wait..]
"Hmm," Chaosti murmured, taking his sunglasses off as he looked around the area to examine the lighting situation better. "Actually I think sitting right there should be fine, since this will be just a head portrait. Just maybe a little more to your left, to avoid some glare from the sun." He spotted a small loveseat sized bench and carried it over, setting it down a couple feet away from Edward's bench. He sat down, putting his bag down beside him, and began to rifle through it. He pulled out a sketchbook that was slightly larger than the one he'd had yesterday and a tin case. When he opened it, the case was shown to hold many different pencils, of varying width, grain, and darkness.
[I'm thinking we save the perfect picture I found for a second portrait, after things have developed a bit more between them. I'll take a quick look around deviantART for the first one..]

((Oh, sure... I'm the innocent pray. Nice. And sounds good about the picture thing.))
Edward did as he was told and scooted a bit to the left. He was sure if it wasn't enough, Chaosti would tell him. He watched, interested, as Chaosti got out all his art supplies. He was surprised when he saw the tin full of pencils. "That is a hell of a lot of pencils," he commented. "Do you really need that many?"

Chaosti grinned and said, "I can never have too many. And these are just your standard grays. You should see the size of the box with my colors. Some people collect stamps, or cards. I collect art supplies. Well, I don't know if you can technically call it collecting, because I use them. But it's very difficult for me to go into an art store and not buy anything." With all the things he needed set out, he looked up and examined Edward's face for a moment. Then he said quietly, mostly to himself, "Turn just a little.." Chaosti reached out, taking hold of Edward's chin lightly with the tips of his fingers, then turned his head a little bit to the left.

((Yeah, I think that's perfect. With the changes of course.))
Edward started to say something else about art suppplies, but he completely forgot everything when Chaosti touched his chin. His eyes snapped up from the art supplies to the guy touching his chin. Okay, it's official. I totally wish he was gay. It would make this a lot easier to deal with. He quickly thought of anything to keep him from appearing too excited. Grandma, cheerleaders, peas... Grandma, cheerleaders, peas.... Within a few repetitions, Edward was back to normal, but he still couldn't take his eyes off Chaosti. There was something about him that drew him in.

Chaosti suddenly found himself frozen, and couldn't figure out why. The facets of color in Edward's eyes were just suddenly terribly fascinating. He needed to study them to get the colors right in the portrait. Yes, that was it. Wait, wasn't he doing a black and white portrait? He released Edward's chin and pulled back, shaking his head slightly to banish that sudden daze. Must not have gotten enough sleep last night. "Right, um, there's good. Just hold that position." Chaosti crossed his legs with one ankle atop the other knee, resting his sketchpad on the free knee. He studied the angles of Edward's face for a moment, then searched quickly through his box for the right pencil to start with. A light one, that wouldn't lay down too dark, thick lines on the page just yet.

Edward kept his eyes on Chaosti's face the entire time he was drawing and couldn't stop thinking about him. Had he really hesitated before pulling away? Did he seem reluctant, or was that not real? He seemed tired, but not enough to make that much of a difference. He did seem less sure of himself than he did with his friends. It must be the art. He seemed to get really worked up about it and he'd said that he wanted to improve. Improve on what? Everything about him was perfect...

Chaosti had found that it was easiest for models to sit still for long periods of time if they talked with the artist, to get their mind off the discomfort. And so he banished the strangeness of what had just happened from his mind and tried to strike up conversation as he sketched. "So, what do you think of the school so far?"

"Well, everybody seems really nice," Edward said, still concentrating on the slight changes in Chaosti's expressions as he drew. "Even if it doesn't seem like I'll fit into any of the cliques, your group of friends seemed especially welcoming."

Chaosti smiled at that and said, "Our group is sort of a collection of misfits. So if the cliques didn't immediately snatch you up, you'll fit right in with us. I will offer you this brief disclaimer, though - the strangest of the strange tends to happen around us. So it's best to be prepared for anything." As he talked and drew, Chaosti frequently glanced up to reference his work with Edward's face and occasionally changed pencils. Now and then chewed on his lower lip in concentration, a habit he tended to slip into when working on his art.

"At this point, I think I'm ready for anything, honestly," Edward said, dazzled by Chaosti's smile. ((Am I channeling Stephenie Meyer, or am I just obsessed?)) His eyes stayed glued to Chaosti's face. He bit the inside of his lip and swallowed hard when he saw Chaosti biting his lip in concentration. Oh, I wish I could be the one doing that... or if it was my lip... God, he has no idea what that is doing to me... Edward figured it would be a miracle if Chaosti didn't notice his current excitement over the entire situation.

Chaosti worked with most of his focus on the page in front of him, though he did make an effort to continue the conversation, and enjoyed talking to Edward. At one point he glanced up and his gaze lingered a little longer than usual. "Are you alright?" he asked, concern written on his face. "You look a little flushed. Is it the heat? The sun does seem unusually warm today."

"No," Edward squeaked. He quickly cleared his throat. "No, I'm fine. It could be the heat, but I feel fine." He cut himself off before he started babbling about nonsense. He wasn't really paying attention to what was coming out of his mouth, though, because Chaosti's gaze was still on his face. He found himself, once again, distracted by Chaosti's eyes.

Chaosti studied Edward a moment longer, laid a couple more lines down on the page, and then closed his sketchbook. "We can stop there for today. It is getting pretty sweltering out here." He put his supplies back in his messenger bag, then stood up and stretched his arms up over his head. An artist gets stiff too after sitting for so long.

Edward nodded and went to stand as well, until he saw Chaosti start to stretch. Edward's eyes reacted immediately and stared unabashedly as Chaosti's well-toned abs. He was eventually able to pull his gaze away from the artist's body and moved it back up to his face. "I suppose you're right," Edard said. "Did you at least get any closer to improving on whatever it was that needed improving?"

"Actually, yes," Chaosti said with a smile. "You sit very well. I hope it wasn't too tedious an ordeal. If you've discovered it was too boring and don't want to continue, I understand. Though I hope you will continue - this has been a big help for me." Yes, that's why he was suddenly seized with panic at the thought Edward might not wish to carry on with his project. He was worried about losing one of the best models he knew - certainly the best male one. He couldn't fathom any other reason.

"No, no, no," Edward said quickly. "It wasn't bad at all. I have a feeling the others were just... over-exaggerating. But, yeah, no, it's fine. I definitely wouldn't mind continuing. Not only am I helping you, but you're also helping me learn about the people here at the same time. It's nice." He smiled warmly and wished that Chaosti was neither straight nor taken.

Chaosti smiled back and said, "Great! Same time tomorrow? If it doesn't clash with your classes, that is." He wiped a thin sheen of sweat from his forehead and squinted up at the bright sky momentarily. Looking back to Edward, he asked with a grin that held a hint of mischief, "Has anyone shown you the pool or the beach yet?"

"Same time tomorrow sounds good," Edward answered. He couldn't for the life of him even remember what time his classes started the next day, but he wasn't about to worry about that. When Chaosti mentioned the pool and the beach, Edward couldn't help but picture the artist in swim trunks. He shook his head quickly, trying to get the image out of his head so that he could answer. "No, no one has been nice enough to show me yet. Granted, I spent all my time unpacking last night..."
