"Well, it's good to see you didn't trouble yourself with missing me," Julianna said sarcastically, stung that this was all the welcome home she got. Her bitch reflex had clearly not been allowed to become rusty.

He turned sharply and with an angry face and said, "You dissapear on me and I worry my head off wondering what happened to you. I haven't slept in weeks. I've missed you so much, but yet you just disappeared with saying one word to me." He walked up to her and kissed her fiercely, holding her body as close to his as he could get. He then broke the kiss and said in a low tone, "If anyone should be mad, it should be me. I guess you don't care about me as much as I thought you did." With that, he turned and headed in the direction of the school.

Julianna gasped softly at the heat of the kiss, and found herself kissing him back heatedly. She'd missed this, she'd ached for this, through all those months of horror. Then the kiss was broken, and she stood alone again. She swiftly checked her mental barriers, but they had remained locked up, stone cold and impenetrable. She couldn't forget the reason for those mental barriers, but she also couldn't bring herself to act on that reason. Not yet. Julianna took a steadying breath and then said softly, but loud enough that she knew Frost would hear, "Maybe I don't."

He looked back at her with sorrow-filled and pain-filled eyes and said, "That's what I was afraid of hearing. I will forever love you, because that is all I'm capable of." A bloodstained tear rolled down his cheek and he turned and sped through the forest with his inhuman vampiric speed, never wishing to see her again because to see her was to have his heart broken again. Thus his life as a vampire was complete, for every vampire has at least one heart break in his entirety.

Julianna sighed heavily once she was sure Frost was gone, and slid down the trunk of the tree to a sitting position at its base. Needing a reminder, needing to reaffirm her conviction, she yanked one of her long leather gloves off and forced herself to stare down at the mounds of scars scars criscrossing her arms. She clenched her jaw and said in a fervent whisper, "I won't let it happen to you. I won't."
[Should we continue here, or start a new scene?]
