"Wide open spaces are my preference. Easier to transport to," Derek says, matter-of-factly.
Not sure whether or not to take that as a compliment, Logan continues. "Layali, you can't possibly expect me to support you up to your bed and watch you take a hundred times longer to recover than you should."

"More room to maneuver along with more escape routes as well," Janelle agrees.
"I'd rather suffer the inconvenience than the spawning of the world's next tyrant," Layali persists.

"Very true," Derek agrees. "Don't forget, most of the people we associate with spend time in the open spaces."
"You are not going to be the world's next tyrant," Logan says, getting frustrated. "And I'm sure Chaosti, Autumn, and probably Elena will back me up on that fact."

Janelle nods and says, "Yes.. That's good. Open spaces are good."
"Maybe so, but either way I won't have you be my Reinfeld!" Layali says fervently, unaware that she'd just made a potentially completely obscure comment.

Derek nods. "So.... are you at least having a better time tonight than you thought you would?"
"I'm your boyfriend though!" Logan says, exasperated. "This is my job!"

Janelle nods in acquiescence and says, "Yeah.. I suppose I am."
"It's not! Derek doesn't have to sacrifice his life force so Janelle doesn't feel woozy, nor Chaosti in Autumn's case. You shouldn't have to either," Layali says, leaning back against the window slightly in fatigue from the argument, though she tried desperately not to show how tired she still was.

Derek smiles. "That's great."
"Derek's been healing his entire life, he's used to it. And Chaosti? You should've seen him when Autumn was sick," Logan says. "And just because you've been learning to control it doesn't mean you have to practice constantly. Especially in times like this."

Janelle smiles a bit and says, "Yeah.. Sorry for not being more lively and not just an obligation.." "Well, maybe so, but.." Layali just waved a hand vaguely as she scrambled to find more support for her stand. Finding none, she just let her hand fall to her lap and remained mute. Chaosti laughs and says, "Fine, fine.. I can't deny you any more." Reaching into the inside pocket of his jacket, he pulls out a flat velvet-y box and holds it out to her. "Happy Valentine's Day, Autumn." [INSIDE ZE BOX: It's like.. white gold and diamonds.. really nice white gold and really nice diamonds.. i don't really know enough about jewelry and girrrrly stuff to describe more than that...]

"It's fine, you're still adjusting."
Logan cupped Layali's face in his hands. "Just accept it please. If not for yourself, then for me."
Autumn opens the box, her eyes closed like she expectes it to be a bomb. She slowly opens her eyes before throwing her arms around Chaosti. "It's amazing!"

"Yeah.." She murmurs, then adds quietly, "Makes me wonder if I'll ever stop adjusting.."
Layali sighs and says, "Not fair. I can't think, let alone argue, with you in close proximity."
Chaosti grins broadly, hugging her back, and says, "Really? I've never jewelry shopped before, so I wasn't sure. I was taught enough to know quality, but for taste and style I was baffled."

"You will. I thought I never would, but I have," Derek says, glad he caught what he said since she caught everything he said earlier.
Logan smiles. "I'll take that as a compliment."
Autumn pulls back from the hug and puts the necklace on. "Well, I've never been one for the quality shit, but taste and style are my specialty." Then her expression changes to one of worry. "Does it look okay? I don't have a mirror, plus I wouldn't trust my own opinion anyway..."

Larcia grinned "I think I can help..." a giant lotus appeared on the ground and closed up around Tris's duffel bag before zooming off into an unoccupied corner of the room. The lotus then blossomed open and quickly withered into nothingness "...hows that?"
