Astrid smiles and says, "Thanks. You too." Looking out the window at the night sky, she says, "So.. For curiousity's sake, what's your 'Other Girl' like?"

"Long dark hair, beautiful eyes, damn good lookin figure, and very sweet. I can tell that she can be a hardass when needed to be, and she seems extremely laid back. Yours?"

Astrid smiles to herself, looking out at the forest still, and says, "Well, like I said, she isn't exactly 'mine'.. But it's like she has two flipsides - the badass party girl, and then the sweet, insightful friend.."
[again, having to be vague, lmao]

"She sounds hot." He laughs and says, "I would have to say the same about mine, and once again, she's not mine yet, but I'm working on it..." He looks out the window as well and says, "Want to go for a walk?"

Astrid nods and says, "Yeah, sure. Sounds like things have quieted down below. Just hold on.." She scales the wall again to fetch her bag 'o snake, then returns to the window ledge.

He says, "You go on down from here, just in case. I'll meet out over there by the trees." He points to a small wooded spot about 2 yards away.

Astrid nods and says, "Sure." She slips out the window and crawls down the wall - face-first, totally unphased by the vertigo. Reaching the bottom, she strolled over to the indicated spot and took off her leather jacket, letting it fall to the ground. She takes Nagaina out of the bag again, coos affectionately at her new pet, and lets the young python wind itself around her upper arm, a silent sentinal, like an Egyptian armlet.

Sage: Scott passes some teachers as they eye him suspiciously. He smiles at them and heads down stairs. When he gets to the trees, he smiles at her and says, "Y'know, that looks really egyptian, the snake I mean."
Star: Astrid grins and says, "Nagaina is the perfect accessory."
Sage: He laughs and says, "Shall we then?" He starts to walk ingto the trees and asks, "What's the most interesting thing about you?"
Star: "Interesting weird or interesting unique?" Astrid asks as they walk.
Sage: "Both."
Star: "Hmm.... Interesting unique - I've lived in loads of places... all over the world. Interesting weird... Too many to list."
Sage: "We have time, start talkin' " He smiles at her and nudges her arm.
Star: Astrid wrinkles her nose and says, "You don't want to know..."
Sage: "Yeah, I do, or I wouldn't have asked. Come on, please?" He pouts at her and then laughs.
Star: Astrid sighs and says, "Alright... But I'm warning you, it night spoil the illusion."
Sage: "No it won't, I don't judge people. Now, tell me."

"Alright then.. This is my short version of the 'interesting weird' things about me.." Astrid took a deep breath, subconciously drifting a bit further away from Scott as they walked. When she spoke, her words came rapidly, a desperate purging of the things that had been eating her up inside. She had nobody who knew of her whole past - not even Elena - and it was somehow purifying to get it all out. "When I was ten I ran away from home. My mother was dead, my father a drunk.. Child protective services found me after a little while. I was half-starved, but I still didn't want to go home. So I told them both my parents were dead, and I was taken to an orphanage. That place was.. stifling, to say the least. Me and a few other kids ran away from there. We found ourselves a sort of gang you could say - a group of other runaways who had banded together in order to protect themselves. We called ourselves 'The Amoeba', since people were always coming into the group or leaving it.. It was always fluctuating, but it was still always there in some form or other. There were even some kids in their twenties in the group - they passed their street smarts onto the others. So in the Amoeba I learned how to take care of myself.. And by the time I was twelve, I'd left it too to strike out on my own. I traveled a lot, hitchhiking and bumming money off of people.. I had connections in the underground, other former members of the Amoeba, so I skipped from place to place, crashing in whatever shithole they'd found to stay in. The experienced streetrats passed their knowledge on to me, and I took to pickpocketing right quick, so I could support myself. Well, rather to say, the world supported me through unknown but sincerely appreciated donations. But I didn't really mind it.. In fact, I rather liked living the nomad life, without any responsibility.. 'Course, there were problems with living life like that.. But I figured it was all worth it, y'know?"
[and now that we're done with the trip to the Department of Backstory.. lmao]

He grinned widely at her and said, "Wow, very interesting. Remind me never to leave anything valueable laying around, unguarded." He lughed at the oke and continued, "I'm just kidding. But wow, have you got a life... Mine has just been boring...."

Astrid laughs, relieved that he'd taken it well, and now suddenly feeling energetic and lighthearted with that weight lifted off her shoulders, her steps became lighter and her expression brighter[ooo, I rhymed!]. "Well, tell me about it anyway," she insisted.

He smiled and answered, "Well, I grew up with happily married parents. I got a job when I was 14. Had a nice house, nice stuff, and didn't really have much problems. I was popular all throughout high school and when I got older, they stopped paying attention to what I did. I got tired of living there and heard about this place. I'd kept my mage a secret for about 4 years. Now, I'm here, looking for some excitement...." He paused and looked over at Astrid with a charming smile and said, "And I think I've found what I'm looking for."

Astrid grins and says, "Oh, I definitely know how to spice things up. The whole snake-stealing was just a warmup exercise." She grimaced, then said sheepishly, "I just didn't expect them to have such sophisticated alarms in a dungeon.."

"Yeah, this school seems to be pretty uptight about security. I had to do a lot of work to get past the cameras and alarms.." He smiles and keeps looking forward, walking deeper into the nest of trees.

"Eurgh, yeah.. Not to mention it's riddled with protective charms. I've been asking Layali about them and how one might go about deactivating them, but I think she's getting a bit suspicious. She's no prude when it comes to the rules, but sometimes her sense of morality can get in the way.."

"That sucks. So, what's on your mind?" He says, looking at her hair in the moonlight.

Astrid flashes a grin at him and says, "Wondering how upset one of my roomates would actually be if I accidentally-on-purpose let Nagaina eat her rat."

Astrid laughs and says, "I think I'll have to. That rodent has been annoying me since day one.. She lets it out of its cage, and let me tell ya - that thing is not potty trained. And it's under the impression that two AM is the perfect time to run on its squeaky wheel.."
